It was announced back in March that Robert Englund and Lin Shaye would be starring together in a new horror film called The Midnight Man. Both Englund and Shaye continue to be loved by horror fans, so the project obviously had tremendous potential. Today, we officially get a look at the film with its brand new trailer!
Watch the trailer below:
“Alex (Gabrielle Haugh) is a typical teenage girl who lives with her sick grandmother, Anna (Lin Shaye). While searching through the attic, Alex finds directions to a game, which played properly, will awaken “The Midnight Man” (Kyle Strauts), an evil being who will make your worst nightmare come true.
At first, Alex and her friends think the game is harmless fun. It is—until The Midnight Man comes to play…for real. When Dr. Goodberry (horror legend Robert Englund) comes to the house to check on Anna, he can sense The Midnight Man’s presence, and warns the kids that when The Midnight Man comes to play, he plays to win.”
Back in March, it was revealed that John Carpenter's classic Escape From New York was set to be rebooted with Robert Rodriguez directing and Neil Cross set to pen the script. News has been quiet since, and we now know that Cross has been hard at work on the script.
Speaking with Deadline, Cross revealed the update on the script and Carpenter's approval on it.
Cross explained, “Robert Rodriguez is attached to direct and it’s looking good and exciting. It was quite a challenging script, it’s a challenging thing to reinvent. One of the most terrifying sentences I’ve ever heard in my life is ‘we’ve given the script to John Carpenter’. I crawled around for three days thinking ‘oh my god’ but we got John Carpenter’s seal of approval. He approved it and that’s all I need.”
Cross continued, “You never quite know [if it’s done] but I might need to do some rewrites and do some nip and tuck but in the first approximation, my job is done.”
Latest news says that the reboot will play out as a prequel to the original with John Carpenter still set to executive produce. Twentieth Century Fox is hoping to spawn an entirely new set of sequels.
Escape From New York (1981) synopsis:
In 1997, when the U.S. president crashes into Manhattan, now a giant maximum security prison, a convicted bank robber is sent in to rescue him.

It's not often that Netflix let's down its audience. With the success of horror originals like Stranger Things and Slasher, hopes are high for Netflix's new horror series Dark. Now, we officially have a trailer, which you can find below!

It's well-known by this time that John Carpenter and Jamie Lee Curtis are back on board for a new Halloween sequel, coming in 2018; however, fans have been quite nervous for the approach that Director David Gordon Green and his writing partner Danny McBride are taking for the film. Well, some news has come forward regarding their intention. Co-writer Danny McBride came to the Charleston City Paper and said:
“The original is all about tension. Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) doesn't even know that Michael Myers exists until the last minutes of the movie. So much of it you're in anticipation of what's going to happen and the dread that Carpenter spins so effortlessly in that film, I think we were really trying to get it back to that. We're trying to mine that dread. Mine that tension and not just go for gore and ultra-violence that you see some horror movies lean on. To us, it was all about bringing back the creep factor and trying to find the horror in your own backyard, in our own homes.”
We know from past interviews that the 2018 sequel will disregard all sequels from the franchise, only following up to the original 1978 film.
"Universal Pictures will release Trancas International Films, Blumhouse Productions and Miramax’s HALLOWEEN on Friday, October 19, 2018.
Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
Master of Horror John Carpenter will executive produce and serve as creative consultant on this film, joining forces with cinema’s current leading producer of horror, Jason Blum (Get Out, Split, The Purge, Paranormal Activity). Inspired by Carpenter’s classic, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride crafted a story that carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film, and Green also directs.
The new film will be produced by Malek Akkad, whose Trancas International Films has produced the HALLOWEEN series since its inception. Green and McBride will executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner.”
HALLOWEEN will be distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures and is said to arrive in theaters October 19th, 2018.
Strangers Things has been a shocking pop culture sensation since its initial release in 2016, and with two seasons under its belt fans are begging for more.

He continued: “I probably wasn’t supposed to say that. That’s not official; that wasn’t an official announcement — we’re just working on it, just for our own amusement… for fun!”
The series stars Millie Bobbie Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Caleb McLaughlin, Dacre Montgomery, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Noah Schnapp, Sean Astin, Linnea Berthelsen, Winona Ryder, Paul Reiser, and David Harbour.
